Flexible Schedule Policy (Flex-time)

Effective date: November 1, 1996

Flexible schedules permit CGU employees varied starting and quitting times within certain conditions set by administration.

CGU needs to provide consistency in hours of operation and has designated the "CORE" hours period as 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All full-time staff schedules must have the employee present each workday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (exceptions must be approved by the appropriate senior officer).

The "CORE" hours represent six hours (plus a one-hour, unpaid meal period). The remaining one and one-half hours of a full-time seven and one-half hour workday must be worked in the morning before 9:00 a.m. or the afternoon after 4:00 p.m. or some combination of morning and afternoon.

Flex hour schedules must be worked on a consistent basis. Only one schedule will be approved. Varied daily schedules will be approved only on an exception basis.

Flex schedule requests must be approved by the supervisor and authorized by the appropriate senior officer. If the department cannot maintain adequate coverage under a flex hours schedule, the request will not be approved.
